The two men allegedly connected to the death of a Middletown mother of nine were confronted by her children after they were seen stealing money from the dead woman, according to Middletown court records.
Jim Boyer and his son Keith Boyer allegedly took money that was hidden in the woman’s wig and inside her purse, and after getting into an argument with the children Wednesday night in the home in the 1400 block of Yankee Road, they told the children they were using the money to buy soda. But the two men never returned, Middletown police said.

On Monday, three days after both men were arrested by Middletown police in connection with the death of Jimeta Sanders, bond was set in Middletown Municipal Court. Jim Boyer, 63, and his son, Keith Boyer, 32, allegedly were in a house when Sanders, 31, died in her kitchen.
Her husband, Andre, was working his third-shift job in Hamilton at the time of her death, police said.
Middletown Municipal Court Judge Melynda Cook Howard set Jim Boyer’s bond at $125,000 and appointed him an attorney when he said he had no job nor income. Jim Boyer was charged with abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, theft and nine counts of child endangering.
Keith Boyer’s bond was set at $130,000, $5,000 higher because of a previous failure to appear on a drug charge, the judge said. He was also appointed an attorney.

Preliminary hearings for both men were set for Dec. 27 before Judge James Sherron.
The Boyers remain in Middletown City Jail.
Police responded to the residence late Wednesday night on a report of a dead body. The Boyers were in the residence for the “majority of the day” abusing pills, heroin and alcohol while nine children, ages 1 to 14, were present, according to the court complaint.
All three adults became unresponsive at some point, the complaint said.
Asyringe was also located in a chair within reach of the children, according to court documents.
The results of Jimeta Sanders’ autopsy have not yet been released by the Butler County Coroner’s Office.
