2020 Hamvention canceled due to coronavirus pandemic

More than 32,000 people attended this year’s Hamvention at the Greene County Fairgrounds. The county recently struck a five-year agreement to continue hosting the amateur radio convention at the fairgrounds. THOMAS HAMLIN/STAFF

After careful contemplation, the Hamvention Executive Committee has decided to cancel this year’s event.

“This decision is extremely difficult for us but with around two months until the Great Gathering we felt this action necessary,” they said in a statement to the WHIO newsroom.

The committee says they have been monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and they thank the community for understanding their decision in this time of international crisis.
