The BFC award recognizes communities that are using resources to improve bike infrastructure, education programs, and pro-bicycling policies.
“Cultivation a bicycle friendly culture promotes community health, quality of life and economic activity; and it encourages a transportation alternative that is affordable and accessible to all,” Community and Economic Development Director Chris Schmiesing said in the release.
Communities who receive the award must renew their status every four years to ensure that they maintain existing efforts and keep up with changing technology, national safety standards and community-driven best practices.
