Montgomery Co. visitors generated over $1 billion in sales

Visitors to Montgomery County have generated $1.97 billion in business sales, according to a report by Tourism Economics, an Oxford Economics Company, and the Ohio Development Services Agency.

Tourism jobs made up over 7 percent of private employment in the county last year, sustaining 21,317 full time equivalent jobs. The biggest boost to the area was in transportation, recreation, retail, lodging, and food and beverage industries.

Tourism also generated $247.6 million in taxes for the county and state.

“This is great news for our community and our local tourism partners,” said President and CEO of the Dayton Convention & Visitors Bureau Jacquelyn Y. Powell. “Tourism is an integral and driving component of the Montgomery County economy. Tourism brings outside dollars into our local economy, thereby helping to ensure the economic vitality of our area.”
