Fire destroys Butler County barn; smoke seen for miles

Smoke from a fire that destroyed a barn tonight could be seen for miles near the borders for Butler, Warren and Montgomery counties.

The fire was reported shortly after 6 p.m. in the 7900 block of Myers Road in Madison Twp., according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office dispatch.

Fire departments from Madison and Wayne townships in Butler County and Franklin Twp. in Warren County responded to the engulfed barn.

Firefighters on scene said they attacked the fire from the outside.

There were no reports of injuries.

There were reports smoke was seen in the sky at the Interstate 75 interchange in Monroe, in the Springboro area and in the Germantown area.

The cause of the fire has not been released, nor the damage estimate.
