Toys for Tots distributes toys with the help of Marine Corps, volunteers, and children

With the help of the Marine Corps, other volunteers, and even young children, Toys for Tots was able to distribute toys Saturday morning to help families struggling this time of year.

“When we give them a bag, they’ll feel excited inside and happy and then they can take it home and play with them,” Marcus Hughley, fifth-grade volunteer said.

Toys for Tots has been going on for 72 years.

Last year alone, Toys for Tots was able to give out 15,584 toys to kids in Greene County and Montgomery County.

Marine Corp Sgt. Luis Duran told News Center 7’s Ronnell Hunt that this year means more to him considering what the area has gone through.

“Times are kind of tough sometimes, especially for Dayton,” Duran said.

“This is what we do every year, give a little bit of hope and Christmas cheer because every kid deserves a Christmas,” he said.
