The store is 45,576 square-feet, employs more than 70 associates and stocks 250 to 400 used vehicles of nearly every make and model. The company was created about 16 years ago when it surveyed thousands of customer to find out what they liked and disliked about car shopping.
CarMax was designed according to survey responses, which included making car buying hassle-free, sell all makes and models on one lot and stand behind every vehicle that is sold.
"We have changed the way consumers buy cars," said Tom Folliard, president and chief executive officer of CarMax. "Dayton area residents now can choose to have a no-hassle, no-haggle, fun and easy car shopping experience at CarMax, the pioneer of the used car superstore."
Dayton area residents can also preview CarMax vehicles by visiting www.carxmar.com. The Website features actual prices and photos of more than 25,000 CarMax vehicles available nationwide. Prospective car buyers can have a vehicle transferred from another CarMax store location to the Dayton store for a fee.
Local and county leaders were on hand Wednesday morning for the grand opening, along with several local television personalities, including News Center 7’s movie critic Bryan Eardy.
