CBS’ 48 Hours Interviews Jim Barton From Behind Bars

A former Springboro police lieutenant is now a prison inmate. Jim Barton was convicted of complicity in connection with a burglary at his home and the murder of his wife in 1995.

On Saturday night, on WHIO-TV, Channel 7 at 10 p.m., you will hear Barton’s first interview from behind bars on 48 Hours on CBS.

CBS correspondent Peter Van Sant asked Barton, “What do you think happened that day. Why was Vickie Baron, your wife, murdered?” Barton responded by saying, “I don’t know. I’ve run the scenario through my head many times. I have absolutely no idea.”

Sant said, “The veteran cop faced the ultimate humiliation: being arrested by his fellow officers, charged with causing his wife’s death.”

Barton said, “It’s like I was totally drained at that point. I know I had committed no crimes, but now I’ve got handcuffs. It’s one of the lowest moments of my life.”

Barton is serving 15 years to life in prison. He is still maintaining his innocence. Authorities in Warren County said officials believe the case has been solved.

48 Hours Mystery airs Saturday night at 10 p.m. on CBS and WHIO-TV, Channel 7.
