The charges against him were dismissed when the key prosecution witness recanted testimony. The key witness was a pathologist who originally said Stanley died of stragulation, but changed his story and said that the woman's death was undetermined.
The prosecutor then had not choice but to drop the charges. He said that he was blindsided and that the witness had plenty of time to change his story prior to the start of the trial.
Stanley was found unresponsive in her bed at her Elm Drive home in September of 2007.
Investigators said Stanley’s 18-year-old sister, Kelly, was found dead in her bed in the family’s home a week later. Autopsies revealed that Kelly died from a seizure.
