Construction is progressing on the building where the new Bed, Bath & Beyond and Buy, Buy Baby are set to open in the fall.

Buy Buy Baby — a chain retailer offering an assortment of baby gear, furniture, clothes and toys — is set to open at 6134 Wilmington Pike in Sugarcreek Plaza, and will occupy 18,715 square feet. Bed, Bath & Beyond will open at the same time, and will occupy about 28,172 square feet.

The space was formerly occupied by Cub Foods, and abandoned after the retailer closed several years ago. The front of the building has been torn off for renovations.

PEBB Dayton LLC purchased the 63,000 square feet of space in January for $2.2 million, and the space is managed by Florida-based PEBB Enterprises. Aaron Zucker, director of leasing for PEBB Enterprises, told the Dayton Daily News back in November that 16,000 square feet is still available in the balance of the space.

The Dayton Daily News has reached out to the developers to see if that space has been filled by any other tenants.

The former Cub Foods closed in 2012, as did its other location at 8245 Springboro Pike in Miamisburg. A total of 130 people lost their jobs, 58 at the Sugarcreek Twp. location alone.
