Contractor Electrocuted In Accident At Honda Plant

A contractor was electrocuted Friday while installing crash barricades at a test track under construction at Honda Transmission Manufacturing Company in Russells Point.

Wayne Shamp, 43, of Reedsville was pronounced dead at Mary Rutan Hospital.

The accident occurred around 10:45 a.m. when the boom of a crane touched overhead electrical wires.

Shamp, an employee of the Paul Peterson Company in Columbus, was on the ground guiding large sandbags into yellow barrel barricades under the wires when the boom touched the power lines.

Investigators with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating.
