Coroner IDs Dayton shooting victim; Police ask for public’s help

“There were some residents in the neighborhood that heard gunshots, went over to investigate and found Mr. Cortner lying face down in the apartment and called the Dayton Police Department, and he was pronounced at the scene,” Miami Valley Crime Stoppers Coordinator Zachariah Hastings said. “(Police) don’t really have a lot of information to go on; not a lot of witnesses. They interviewed a lot of people but not a lot of information to go on.”

Hastings said police do have a couple people of interest but need more information from the community to close the case.

Anyone with information is asked to call crime stoppers at 937-222-7867.
