19th Hole shooting victim ID'd, suspect questioned

Police took a man into custody in connection to a shooting at the 19th Hole on Nicholas Road Saturday morning.

Officers responded to the club, 2027 Nicholas Road, around 12:30 a.m. on a shooting with a man shot.

Jerry Henderson, 45, was lying outside the club's side door with a single gunshot wound to his neck, Sgt. Justin Poe of the Dayton Police Department said.

Henderson was transported to Miami Valley Hospital and was stable upon his arrival, Poe said.

Investigators placed evidence markers outside the club, where it appeared that multiple shots were fired, but Poe was not certain how many rounds were shot.

A vehicle at the scene had been hit with five bullets, according to an incident report.

The club, which police said is not a major problem spot, was hosting some type of party when a confrontation occurred inside the establishment and spilled out into the parking lot. Once the fight spilled to the lot, that's when the shots were fired, Poe said.

It's not clear if both the suspect and Henderson both had a weapon, but detectives plan to investigate that angle, Poe said.

The 19th Hole does have surveillance cameras inside the business and police plan to review the video.

A short time after the shooting, officers located a male suspect at an unknown address and he was brought into the police station for questioning, Poe said.
