Abduction report in Dayton under investigation

Police: Woman texted 911 to say she was held against her will

UPDATE @ 9:20 p.m.

Police are still trying to get the the bottom of a reported abduction after a woman texted 911 tonight to say she was being held against her will.

Police were able to find the 21-year-old woman through her cellphone, which led officers to a house in the 600 block of Steele Avenue. The woman was already outside when police responded, but it was not clear whether she was let go or escaped her alleged abductors, said Dayton police Sgt. Joseph Setty.

Police surrounded the house and blocked streets in the area but were not able to make contact with anyone in the house, and it was not clear whether anyone had been inside, Setty said.

The woman told police she was abducted earlier from the 1200 block of Wayne Avenue and was brought to the Steele Avenue house. She suffered unspecified injuries and was taken to Miami Valley Hospital. Detectives met with the woman at the hospital, however, she became uncooperative, Setty said.

The sergeant called the incident isolated but said it was not clear whether the woman knew her alleged abductors. No arrests have been made and the incident remains under investigation.
