2 arrested after pursuit, collision with state patrol cruiser in Hamilton

Two people are in the Butler County Jail today after an early-morning incident involved an attempted stop of a car and a minor crash with an Ohio State Highway Patrol cruiser.

At about 2:20 a.m., a state patrol trooper attempted to stop a vehicle in Hamilton after it failed to stop for a red light at Ohio 129 and Fair Avenue, according to Lt. Clint Arnold of the Hamilton Post.

The trooper followed the vehicle to the area of Hampshire Drive and Ohio 129, where there was a fender-bender between the suspect vehicle and the cruiser.

“Very little damage to both vehicles. No injuries,” Arnold said.

The driver stayed with the vehicle, but a male passenger took off on foot. He was tracked by K-9 units into Hamilton, according to officials.

Drugs were found in a search of the suspect vehicle

Steven C. Robinson, 51, of Hamilton, was booked into the jail about 8 a.m. today and is charged with three counts of felony drug possession, including one involving heroin, according to the booking information. He was arrested in the 400 block of East Avenue, according to the jail.

Nicole Gasper, 34, of Hamilton, was booked into the jail about 6 a.m. She is charged with three counts of felony possession of drugs and failure to comply with a police officer.

“We know 100 percent why they were running and didn’t want to get caught,” Arnold said.
