Can you help Miamisburg police ID Lowe’s tool thief?

Police are asking for the public’s help to identify a tool thief who pushed his cart past the Lowe’s check-out, ignoring the cashier who calls out to him.

Miamisburg officers were called around 11:45 a.m. Friday to Lowe’s at 2900 Martin’s Drive regarding a theft that happened at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday.

The suspect — described as a man in his 30s or older wearing a black Carhartt jacket with camouflage ball cap and jeans — entered the store empty-handed and selected a shopping cart.

He then picked up a Dewalt 20V Max XR battery two-back off the shelf and placed it into the cart. He also picked up a Dewalt 20V Max XR 4-tool combo kit and placed it in the cart, Miamisburg police said.

The suspect walked around for a few minutes and then pushed his cart toward the south exit doors near the lumber section. The cashier called out to the man, but he refused to acknowledge her and pushed his cart out the exit doors.

He then ran through the parking lot, pushing the cart toward the rear of the Castrucci Auto Mall. He appeared to get inside a vehicle parked behind the Honda dealership, police said.

Anyone with information about the tool thief’s identity is urged to call detective Sgt. J.S. Muncy at 937-847-6612.
