Car with faulty brakes rolls over in Piqua crash

There were no injuries Thursday night when a car with faulty brakes rolled when the driver tried to avoid a crash.

The driver of a Chevrolet Cavalier involved in the single-car crash just after 7:30 p.m. on Covington Avenue told police he started losing control of his brakes and was unable to slow down.

"He swerved and overcorrected too much, hitting the curb, causing his vehicle to flip over," Cook said.

The driver, a Piqua man, and his passenger were not hurt, Cook said, and no other vehicles were involved in the accident that happened near the intersection with Covington and McKinley avenues.

The car had to be towed from the scene, and the driver was cited for failure to maintain control, Cook said.
