This is what we know now about the case:

What happened?

Police said the 22 year-old victim was lured to the house on East Lytle Five Points Road by his ex-girlfriend.

On Oct. 16, the victim’s ex-girlfriend called him and said her current boyfriend was assaulting her. He rented a car and drove to the house, according to court documents and Clearcreek Twp. police.

“He believed he was on a rescue mission,” said Clearcreek Twp. Sgt. Wallace Stacy.

Once he got to the house, he was forced inside and held captive for three days.

The victim said he was held in a padlocked dog cage at night and tortured in a lawn chair that eventually broke because he struggled to get away. The victim said he was struck, burned, tied and blind-folded multiple times during his captivity.

How was the stolen ambulance involved?

On Saturday, three days after being held captive, the victim escaped.

He ran to the Clearcreek Twp. fire station across the street. Firefighters on duty on Saturday happened to be out on a run when he arrived, so he broke into the fire station through a window.

The victim stole an ambulance and drove it to Dayton Children’s Hospital.

Clearcreek Twp. police first made contact with the victim at the hospital, where he told them what had happened inside the East Lytle Five Points Road home.

Who are the suspects?

The victim identified five people, including his ex-girlfriend, who participated, according to court documents.

Christopher Edwards, 38, has been arrested, and Stacy said he expects to charge more people.

Who is Christopher Edwards?

On Monday, 38 year-old Edwards was arraigned via video in Warren County Municipal Court for charges of felonious assault and kidnapping. He is being held in the Warren County Jail.

Edwards has several active warrants for failure to appear and active warrants for his arrest, according to court documents.

A no-contact order was issued for the victim.

Edwards is scheduled to be back in court Oct. 29 for a preliminary hearing on the charges related to the kidnapping.

Edwards was subletting the basement of the home from a woman who said she was not there during the incident, according to Clearcreek Twp. police.

Edwards knew the victim of another violence crime in the Miami Valley. In 2017, Brittany Russell was shot and killed in Dayton. Russell was Edwards’ girlfriend at the time of her death. He was not charged or named as a suspect in that case.

Some of the victim’s clothes were also removed from the house on East Lytle Five Points Road.
