Court orders supervised contact between mother, daughter

A Springboro woman was ordered to have no unsupervised contact with her mother as part of her sentence in Warren County Common Pleas Court.

Judge Michael Gilb also placed Carrie Underwood, 37, on house arrest for 180 days and probation for five years and ordered intensive supervision, including substance abuse and mental health treatment, according to an entry filed Monday.

In February, Underwood pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, ending a not guilty by reason of insanity defense. A memorandum filed before the sentencing Friday also alluded to mental health issues.

Underwood was accused of beating her mother unconscious with her hands, feet and head last February at their home in Springboro. They were found by another family member.

Underwood was charged with felonious assault and domestic violence and served 11 days in jail, while the case was pending.

Gilb also ordered her to pay $1,000 in restitution to her mother.
