Driver arrested after high-speed pursuit fled ‘numerous times’ before, Dayton police say

An 18-year-old Dayton driver is due in Dayton Municipal Court this afternoon following his arrest Wednesday night after a high-speed police pursuit.

Dayton police arrested Pierre N. Blackford in the 2800 block of North Dixie Drive in Harrison Twp. He was booked on suspicion of failure to comply with an order or signal of police into the Montgomery County Jail.

Police say Blackford is known to flee authorities.

“Dayton Police Department has attempted to stop him numerous times and he’s ran,” Sgt. Thomas Schloss.

The silver Chrysler 300 was listed as a “failure to comply vehicle with a named suspect,” Schloss said, which is why Dayton police pursued Blackford.

The pursuit began in the area of Salem Avenue and Cornell Drive in Dayton around 10:20 p.m.

The chase ended after officers were able to deploy tire-deflation devices in two separate spots that ultimately led the driver to stop shortly past a road closed sign at North Dixie and Neva drives.

No injuries were reported.
