Deputy hurt after man leads pursuit, crashes into cruisers in Harrison Twp.

A man is in custody and a Montgomery County sheriff’s deputy was hurt after a short pursuit ended into two crashes with law enforcement vehicles on Dixie Drive in Harrison Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol Sgt. Charles Bower.

Jason Noel, 37, of Dayton, was arrested by the OSHP, and was booked into the Montgomery County Jail at 12:52 a..m., according to jail records.

Bower said that a state trooper on northbound Interstate 75 tried to pull over a vehicle for a speed violation near the Wagner Ford Road exit.

The vehicle, later found to be driven by Noel, led police on a short pursuit that led off the highway at Needmore Road before the he turned right onto Dixie Drive and crashed into a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office vehicle, the sergeant said.

The vehicle then continued north on Dixie. An OSHP trooper pulled his car in front of it to block the way, and Noel crashed into the cruiser.

From there, Bower said, the suspect ran on foot. After a short chase, Noel was tased, and then taken into custody without incident.

Bower said that the Montgomery County deputy whose cruiser was hit was taken to the hospital to be checked for minor injuries as a precaution.

The sergeant said that Noel had a suspended license, and that they suspect that drugs and alcohol were involved.
