Driver tells police he was just hired to install speakers in truck, knows nothing about drugs found in it

A vehicle stopped on College Corner Pike for operating without taillights brought the driver several traffic and drug charges.

During the traffic stop at 1:55 a.m. May 17, the driver got out of the Chevrolet Malibu and then back into it as the officer was calling in the stop, despite being told to stand outside the vehicle.

The officer requested the department’s K9 unit respond.

The driver was identified as William P. Hixson Jr., 35, who told the officer his license had been suspended. He said the car was not his but the boyfriend of a woman driving a red truck that had stopped nearby. Hixson said he had no drugs or weapons in the vehicle.

When the K9 unit arrived, the dog indicated on the vehicle and Hixson was again asked about drugs in the vehicle. He said he did not know of any, but, according to the report, added. “I hope to God there isn’t anything in there.”

With the dog’s indication of drugs, the vehicle was searched and a gun was found under the driver’s seat with a loaded magazine although the chamber was empty. A glass marijuana pipe was found on the front seat of the vehicle and a lockbox on the backseat. It was found to contain a plastic bag with a white substance, a plastic bag with five whole or partial pieces of an orange round pill, a bag with marijuana roaches, a plastic bag containing marijuana, a scale, a package of plastic bags, two cigar packages and a red lighter.

Hixson was taken to the police department and read his rights, opting to speak without a lawyer present. He said he did not know who the drugs belonged to but identified the owner of the vehicle and said he had been given the car to install speakers.

He was charged with having weapons while under disability, improperly handling firearms, driving under suspension and no taillights. He was taken to the Butler County Jail.

The white substance and orange pills were sent to the lab for analysis.
