UPDATE @ 7 a.m. 7/29:

Investigators say charges could be finalized within the next two weeks for a driver who fled a crash in Vandalia earlier in July.

Trooper Kevin Brubaker with the Dayton Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol said Scott Gray, 36, from Troy turned himself in and began cooperating with authorities within days of the crash that occurred on July 11. Brubaker adds Gray was traveling around 76 mph in a marked 35 mph zone when he hit a car that attempted to turn onto South Dixie Drive from a side street.

The crash severely injured the passenger in the other vehicle, identified as Melissa Carlson. She is still listed in critical condition at Miami Valley Hospital.

Brubaker said the charges in the case are pending and could change if Carlson would succumb to her injuries.

Charges though could be finalized within the next two weeks regardless of her recovery. Brubaker adds if a victim dies 30 days after an injury crash, the at-fault driver cannot face charges related to a fatal crash.

Gray is not being detained in jail at this time.

Speed is believed to be the only factor in the crash at this time according to Brubaker.

UPDATE @ 3:30 a.m. 7/11:

Troopers say three people suffered injuries, one of them serious, in a crash on South Dixie Drive Saturday morning.

A preliminary investigation found one vehicle was most likely cut off by another vehicle leading to the crash, Troopers said.

Troopers say the driver of one of the vehicles fled the scene on foot. A K9 was requested from Riverside to track the driver but was unsuccessful.

One person suffered serious injuries while two others suffered non-life threatening injuries. All three were transported to Miami Valley Hospital.
