Father: Kinsley Kinner was a loving, playful child

Two-year-old Kinsley Kinner, who died in December after her mother’s boyfriend allegedly beat her, was a loving and friendly child who liked to eat, her father said Monday.

“She was the type that no matter where you went she always made a new friend,” Scott Senft said. “She would smile all the time no matter what (and) play.”

Senft of Madison Twp. and his mother Heidi Morgan were at Paradise Key Cafe in Dayton to plan for a fundraiser scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at the business. They hope raise enough money to move a donated tombstone to Kinsley’s grave.

The child died after her mother’s boyfriend Bradley Young, 26, of Madison Twp. allegedly punched her multiple times in the head and shook her violently, resulting in injuries. Young is charged with murder. His girlfriend Rebekah Kinner,23, also of Madison Twp., is charged with involuntary manslaughter for allegedly doing nothing to stop Young from assaulting her daughter and not seeking medical treatment for the child after the fact.

Previously, Senft had said Young and Kinner should be “hanged” for Kinsley’s murder. But he softened his tone slightly Monday, although his feelings about what should happen to the suspects haven’t changed, he said.

“It should be dealt with how they dealt with Kinsley,” Senft said. “I mean, that’s just how I’m looking at it. They should get everything that happened to Kinsley to happen to them.”

Senft said he changed tone primarily because Kinner is 8 months pregnant with his second child, and he plans to get custody once the baby is born.

“I gotta hold it back because I don’t want them to keep the new kid from me because of how I feel,” he said, noting that he drank after Kinsley’s death. “It’d be ridiculous to keep a kid from me when I’ve been working so hard to get him.”

Kinner’s trial date is set for April 4 and Young’s is scheduled for April 25.
