GameStop robber who shot at police could get 72 years

A Spring Valley Twp. man accused of robbing an area video game store and engaging in a shootout with police in July pleaded guilty Friday to all charges filed against him.

Micah Joseph Tuck, 22, appeared in Greene County Common Pleas Court and pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated attempted murder, two counts of kidnapping and a single count of aggravated robbery.

More than a dozen Xenia police officers showed up to hear him take responsibility for the incident.

“He tried to shoot and kill two Xenia police officers,” said Greene County Prosecutor Stephen Haller. “We’re talking about inches. I mean this was a gun fight and they were just feet from each other.”

Tuck faces up to 72 years in prison and a maximum fine of $95,000. His sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 6.

He was shot by Xenia Police on Montana Drive on July 2 after he took an employee hostage at the GameStop on Hospitality Drive.

Police said Tuck was armed with a .45-caliber semiautomatic handgun when he walked into the store around 6 p.m. Tuck forced an employee to the ground and stole a game console from the business.

While fleeing, Tuck engaged in a gun battle with Xenia police officers and 18-to-20 shots were fired.

Officer Brian Atkins suffered a laceration to his arm from breaking glass during the gun fight.

Tuck was released from Miami Valley Hospital’s intensive care unit a few days later and said in an interview that he didn’t remember most of what happened that night.

“All I remember is riding the bike from the house,” he said July 5. “Then I ended up at the store somehow and allegedly robbed it.

“We’ll let a jury decide that.”

His jury trial was scheduled to begin on Monday.
