William “Skip” Brown, 44, was shot multiple times inside his rural Miami Twp. home just outside Yellow Springs. His neighbor, Sherri Mendenhall, 63, was found dead outside the duplex, lying in the driveway.

“We’re still trying to answer the who, the what and the why,” said Fischer.
Mendenhall was found by a female jogger Sunday afternoon while lying face down in the driveway of the property at 4444. E. Enon Rd. So far, it is unclear why or how Mendenhall became a victim, who was dead for a “few hours” before being discovered, the sheriff said.
Fischer confirmed she was shot once, but would not specify where.
The caller, who is unnamed, told dispatchers there was a middle-aged woman, in a black and white dress, lying in the driveway by the side of the road. The caller said the woman appeared to be bleeding.
The dispatcher stayed on the call with the jogger while she relayed the information to Yellow Springs police, confirming the location.
Sheriff’s investigators have interviewed two to three dozen people with ties to Mendenhall and Brown. Fischer said they are still working to determine if the relationship between Mendenhall and Brown extended beyond that of neighbors.
Brown operated an art gallery out of the property on Enon Road, one dedicated to the photography of his great-grandfather Axel Bahnsen. He was also the owner of the Legendary Roofing Company, also a part of the property.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation was called Sunday to assist with the crime scene, and it has provided 14 agents, including some from the crime scene unit, which collects and processes any viable evidence. BCI continues to assist in the investigation.
“We wholeheartedly welcome their assistance and appreciate everything the attorney general is able to do for us,” said Fischer.
Deputies are asking anyone with information to call the sheriff’s office at 937-562-4815.
