A Greenville High School student is facing charges for making a threat of violence using the school’s online instant messaging system.

Greenville police said high school officials were made aware of the threat Wednesday morning. The school resource officer took the student suspect to juvenile court, and criminal charges were filed against the student, according to our media partners at Early Bird/Bluebag Media.

Greenville Schools Superintendent Doug Fries alerted high school parents to the threat.

“An online threat was resolved by the school resource officer and administrators and appropriate action was taken. Everyone at the high school did a good job of looking at the issue,” he said, Early Bird/Bluebag Media reported.
