Gunman robs Just Smokes, customers, police say

The man accused of robbing a Just Smokes store on Mitchell Boulevard this week pointed his gun at the clerk and robbed two customers who were coming into the business, according to a Springfield Police Division incident report made available Friday.

Donald Mustin, 24, was arrested after police said he ran to a wooded area following the robbery they said occurred about 9:15 a.m. Thursday.

Mustin first tried to elude capture when he took off in a car, which prompted a short police pursuit on North Belmont Avenue before he abandoned the vehicle and headed toward the woods, according to the incident report.

Police said he took money from the register and grabbed a carton of cigarettes before robbing the customers on his way out of the store, at 1940 Mitchell Blvd.

Mustin is being detained in the Clark County Jail on three felony counts of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, a misdemeanor count of failure to comply with the signal or order of a police officer and two traffic violations. Bail has been set at $46,000, according to online jail records.
