Hamilton police: Front Street shooting not a random act

A 36-year-old man was shot several times late Thursday on Front Street in Hamilton, and three vehicles were also damaged in the incident, according to Hamilton police.

Police were dispatched about 10:30 p.m. to the 500 block of South Front Street. Jamaal Bradford of Ninth Street had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, according to the report. He was taken by ambulance to Butler County Regional Airport, then transported by medical helicopter to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, according to dispatchers.

Three vehicles were also damaged in the incident, a Yukon, an Acura and a Arcadia, according to the report.

Sgt. Brian Robinson said the shooting was not a random act.

“It appears to be a specifically targeted incident that occurred out in the open on and near a public street,” he said.

Detectives are investigating and actively seeking information, witnesses and verifying the information they receive surrounding the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 513-568-5811 extension 2002.

He declined to comment if the shooting is related others in the area in the past six months.

In June, Aldon Litman, 42, of Hamilton, was shot and pronounced dead near the corner of South Front Street and Wilson Street after an argument with another man in which the both were shot. It is the same block where Thursday night’s shooting occurred. There have been no charges filed in connection with his death.

Then, 12 hours later at the intersection of Hurn and South Front, Scott Alexander Jones Sr., 47, of Hamilton, shot Albert Givens, 31, of Hamilton, according to police. He survived.

Jones was located shortly after the shooting by Hamilton police. He was arrested and has been charged with felonious assault.

In August, 13-year-old Jaraius Gilbert was gunned down in the 800 block of South Front Street. Another person was shot in the gun violence. Two men, Miquan Gilbert and Kameron Tunstall have both been charged with for that shooting
