Clark County prosecutors and the juvenile court judge have set a hearing date for both sides to argue if a 16-year-old boy should be tried as an adult in connection with his brother’s death.

Prosecutors have alleged Nicholas Starling, 16, stabbed and beat his 14-year-old brother, Harvey Starling, to death on Oct. 30.

A hearing on whether to move the case to adult court is scheduled to take place at 2 p.m. Nov. 21 in the Clark County Juvenile Court.

The older brother was arrested less than 24 hours after police started their investigation.

The 16-year-old allegedly tried to hide the murder weapons from police, according to court documents.

Harvey’s death was the third homicide in the city of Springfield in 2016.

Prosecutor’s last week filed a notice of intent to move Nicholas Starling’s charges to an adult court, Assistant Prosecutor Dan Driscoll said.

It will be up to a juvenile court judge to decide whether the case warrants a move to adult court. ALLISON WICHIE
