Hit-and-run in Dayton sends child to hospital

Police are looking for the driver of a blue SUV who ran away after hitting a child in the 700 block of North Gettysburg Avenue.

The child, not seriously injured, has been taken to Dayton Children’s Hospital. An officer at the scene said the child is expected to be OK.

According to a preliminary investigation, the SUV hit a tree after striking the child and ended up in the yard of a residence. The driver got out and ran away. Police have no information about that driver.

Police and a medic unit were dispatched about 9:10 p.m.
