Man accidentally shoots self inside Dayton home

UPDATE @ 3:45 a.m.

Dayton police have ruled a shooting on Beechwood Avenue Saturday morning as an accident.

Medics were first dispatched to a home in the 100 block of Beechwood Avenue around 2:40 a.m. on reports of a man with trouble breathing.

Fire crews requested officers to respond shortly after arriving on scene because the man was found with a gunshot wound.

Police said the man accidentally shot himself in the arm, but is denying the entire event to investigators, and is blaming his injuries from falling off the couch.

Officers said the man is recovering at Miami Valley Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police added they have yet to find the gun used in the incident.

It is unknown if the man might face any charges.
