Man indicted on 20 felony charges following January standoff in Dayton

A 40-year-old Dayton man was indicted on 20 felony charges in connection to a January standoff at his East Fourth Street home.

Stephen M. Porter is accused of firing at least one shot at a man outside on Jan. 21 and then running back inside his home in the and then refusing to come out of his home in the 3200 block of East Fourth Street.

SWAT officers arrested him about seven hours later. He remains in the Montgomery County Jail, where he’s been since his early Jan. 22 arrest.

A Montgomery County grand jury on Tuesday indicted Porter on the following charges: felonious assault, which includes a three-year firearm specification; unlawful possession of a dangerous ordnance; inducing panic; and 17 counts of having weapons under disability for prior drug convictions.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.
