911 caller: ‘Somebody just started shooting and he got shot’

A man suffered gunshot wounds to his arm and leg, according to a woman who called 911 as the man was being driven to a local hospital.

She said the shooting happened while they were at Residence Park, at the corner of Elmhurst Road and Edison Street in Dayton. She said they didn’t know who fired the shots.

“Somebody just started shooting and he got shot,” she said.

A man was shot at Residence Park tonight in Dayton.

The gunshot victim was taken by private vehicle to a local hospital, but the shooting happened sometime before 9:45 p.m. near Elmhurst Road inside the park, according to the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center.

The victim’s name and condition is not immediately available.

It also is not clear whether police have any suspect information.
