UPDATE @ 9:45 p.m. (June 1)

Retired Marine veteran Jesse Moore said his stolen motorcycle has been recovered. A nearby resident found the motorcycle early today in his yard, Moore said.

The motorcycle was taken from his property hours after thieves unsuccesfully stole his air conditioner.

FIRST REPORT (May 30)

A retired U.S. Marine had his air conditioner unit and motorcycle stolen over the weekend from his residence on North Shaffer Street.

“Especially on Memorial Day weekend, it’s mind boggling the audacity of some people in this town,” said Jesse Moore, of Springfield, who served five years in the military. “This city gets more and more unbelievable by the year.”

Moore was able to recover the air conditioner after chasing the suspects, who he said fled in a sport-utility vehicle.

Several hours later Moore said three men came back to his residence and stole the motorcycle he rode to chase the air conditioner thieves

Moore said he has not been able to recover the stolen motorcycle.
