2 men indicted in string of Dayton robberies

UPDATE @ 3:23 p.m. (June 10):

Tyrone Ware and John Weatherspoon were both indicted by a Montgomery County grand jury Friday, June 10 in connection to these past armed robberies.

Ware was indicted on charges of aggravated robbery (three counts) and having weapons while under disability.

Weatherspoon was indicted on charges of aggravated robbery (four counts).

Both with firearms specifications.

They both remain in Montgomery County Jail, with arraignments scheduled for June 14.

UPDATE @ 2:01 p.m. (June 3):

Police said the two men arrested in connection to the robbery at the Natural Power Beauty Supply are also suspects in a string of robberies at dollar stores in the city.

Tyone Ware and John Weatherspoon are suspected of robberies at the following dollar stores:

  • May 26 robbery at Dollar General, 2228 North Gettysburg Ave.
  • May 29 robbery at Dollar General, 888 South Gettysburg Ave.
  • May 30 robbery at Family Dollar, 440 North James H. McGee Blvd.

The owner of Natural Power Beauty Supply in Dayton said Thursday he scared off two suspects that had customers at gunpoint during a robbery Tuesday. One suspect displayed a gun, and the owner pulled his own weapon out before the second suspect was able to retrieve his gun.

FIRST REPORT (June 1)

Two men are in Montgomery County Jail for a reported armed robbery at Natural Power Beauty Supply in the 4000 block of West Third Street, Dayton.

Tyone Ware, 22, is in jail on charges of aggravated robbery and a parole violation.

John K. Weatherspoon in the jail on a charge of aggravated robbery.

Dayton police were called to the business about 6:20 p.m. May 31. The man had reportedly stolen about $307 cash.
