Miami County Sheriff arrest residential burglary suspect

UPDATE @ 12:47 p.m. (Aug. 30):

Miami County deputies arrested Matthew Cartonia, 32, in Troy yesterday afternoon, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.

Cartonia was wanted for at least one burglary in northeast Miami County and he also is suspected in other property crimes in the Piqua area.

UPDATE @ 5:39 p.m. (Aug. 23):

A woman living on the 9600 block of Haskett Lane in Bethel Twp. reported seeing the suspect at her home around 2:30 p.m., according to the Miami County Sheriff’s office.

The woman’s TV was lying in her yard when the suspect left the scene. The suspect’s car had been sitting in the driveway of the home.

Investigation for multiple burglaries is ongoing.

FIRST REPORT

The Miami County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a suspect in a residential burglary investigation. The sheriff’s office identified suspect as 32 year-old Matthew R. Cartonia, 6’2” at 170 lbs, and with a last known address in Piqua.

The suspect was captured on surveillance video breaking into a home in Monroe Township, and was driving a silver or light-colored SUV, which could possibly be a Toyota 4 Runner, according to the sheriff’s office.

Cartonia is suspected in several other residential burglaries in Miami County.
