Mom sentenced in baby's sleep aid death

The mother of a 16-month-old girl who was given an over-the-counter sleep aid and died was given 90 days in the Darke County jail.

Lauren Jones, 29, was also sentenced to five years probation, and if she violates it, she will be incarcerated for 18 months.

In addition, Jones will serve 100 hours of community service, must get a job and earn her GED.

Her husband, Scott Webber, is waiting for the judge's verdict in his case in their baby's death. He refused a plea deal and faces a maximum of 14 years in prison if convicted.

The child was found wrapped in a favorite scarf used as a blanket, in a crowded crib.

The autopsy showed the child had the medication, which is not to be used by anyone under the age of 12.
