OHP: Fewer traffic deaths reported this Labor Day weekend

Eleven people died in crashes over the holiday weekend, three fewer than occurred last year, according to a release from the Ohio Highway Patrol.

From Friday to Monday, 11 people died in the same number of crashes; that’s two fewer crashes and three fewer deaths as compared to last year, according to the release.

The patrol reports there was a 17 percent increase in felony arrests over the four-day period. In addition, there were 730 motorists arrested on suspicion of OVI and 4,846 citations were issued for seat belt violations, according to the release.
