TROY (MARCH 22) – A driver denied trying to elude a pursuing Miami County sheriff’s deputy by turning off on side streets, claiming he was pulling off County Road 25A between Troy and Tipp City because his car was making a “funny sound.” The deputy said she attempted to stop the vehicle around 6:30 p.m. when it was seen driving 79 mph in a 45 mph zone. Instead of stopping, the vehicle turned off into a residential area and down a couple of streets before coming to a stop. The driver was charged with speeding, reckless operation and failure to comply.
