Police: Former manager is store break-in suspect

The former manager of a store is the suspect in an early morning break-in.

Police were called Saturday to Metro PCS, 1744 N. Gettysburg Ave., where the manager discovered the garage door open and the power turned off at the breaker.

Surveillance video at the prepaid wireless business shows the garage door was opened at 3:50 a.m. The manager recognized the suspect as manager he replaced about three weeks ago, according to the Dayton police report.

The manager told police the suspect's employment ended three weeks ago, and that he refused to return the key and garage door opener, the report stated.

The suspect took nearly $8,000 combined from a drawer in the office and the money in the cash register, except for a $5 bill found on the floor and a few $1 bills left in the register, according to the report.
