Cruiser camera video released by Fairborn police Monday shows a Fairborn officer trying to catch up to the vehicle.
During the pursuit, Clark County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers relayed information to crews that the vehicle was reported stolen, and that the people inside could be involved in a Dayton homicide and cellphone store robbery.
The driver crashed in Huber Heights, near the intersection of Kitridge Road and state Route 201. That is where the driver lost control and hit the curb of Kitridge Road, drove off the pavement, and crashed into a fence in a yard.
Everyone inside the car jumped out and ran into a large wooded area.
Police and a K-9 unit searched for the occupants, who slipped away in the rain and darkness.
Based on scanner traffic during the pursuit, the homicide that may be related to the chase suspects is believed to be that of 37-year-old La’Peetra Dawson. She was found shot to death Nov. 13 inside her home in the 2800 block of Millicent Avenue after police said someone fired shots outside the house.
