Police issue call for officer assistance for large crowd at stabbing scene

Dayton police issued a call for urgent officer assistance Saturday night for a large crowd that gathered following a report of a stabbing.

A man reportedly was stabbed in the stomach shortly before 11:30 p.m. in the 3900 block of Cornell Woods Drive West in Dayton, according to Montgomery County Regional dispatch.

According to the 911 call, the caller stated her 20-year-old brother was stabbed by her aunt’s ex-boyfriend.

My auntie’s ex-boyfriend just stabbed my brother,” she said. “He got stabbed in the stomach.”

The “signal 99” call for officer assistance was canceled minutes after it was issued.

The call for assistance was issued because an officer needed backup due to the crowd getting larger, dispatch said.

No injuries were reported, and the victim’s condition is unknown at this time.

No information about suspects or arrests made was available.
