The funeral for Da’Lyne Foster, who was pregnant when she was shot and killed near the DeSoto Bass housing complex June 19, took place today at St. Paul’s Baptist Church in Dayton.

Foster’s father David Foster said before the service that holding his daughter’s funeral was like closing a chapter of her life. He said he has been overwhelmed by the support from the community.

“I’m going to miss her,” he said. “She was a daddy’s girl.”

Foster, 27, was 9-months pregnant with her son Christopher and was killed one day before doctors were scheduled to induce labor. Doctors at Miami Valley Hospital performed an emergency C-section to deliver the baby, who remains in the neonatal intensive care unit at Miami Valley Hospital where his condition is improving according to family members.

No one has been charged in Foster’s death.

Police said multiple shots were fired near the housing complex where Foster was killed and they are working to identify everyone who fired a weapon.

After clearing one individual in Foster’s death through ballistics testing, police identified 20-year-old Marty Powers as a second person of interest last week. Powers was taken into custody on drug-related charges but has since been released.
