Sheriff's office warns of phone scam

The sheriff's office has received numerous reports over the past few days from citizens who have received calls saying that they are from the IRS. The caller says that if they hang up, a sheriff's deputy will respond to the person's house and arrest them.

The call is a scam, and the authorities are warning residents to not give way personal information. Residents should hang up.

Anyone who has been scammed should contact their bank or credit card company and monitor their credit accounts. Anyone who has been scammed out of money should contact the Darke County Sheriff's Office to make a report.
