Stan the Donut Man robber turns himself in

A 27-year-old homeless man turned himself in for the Stan the Donut Man robbery, and told police he did it because he wanted money to get a hotel room.

Paul Huddleston is being held in Montgomery County Jail on a $50,000 bond. He is charged with one count of aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony.

Police said his fingerprints match those left at the scene.

The Wilmington Avenue shop was robbed before 6 a.m. March 10 and the robber was caught on surveillance video.

He ordered two apple fritters and then pulled a knife on the clerk when she opened the cash register to give him change. A child witnessed the incident.

The robber got away with the doughnuts and some cash.

Huddleston turned himself in for the crime on March 14. He was indicted and will appear in court again on April 8, according to court and jail records.

Police said his previous arrests include breaking and entering and theft.
