Police arrest Hamilton shooting suspect, find body in neighboring apartment

Hamilton police arrested a suspect wanted in a recent shooting today, and investigators found a dead body in a neighboring apartment in the same building, police said.

Police and SWAT officials responded to the 2200 block of Dixie Highway this afternoon. A police spokesperson said the SWAT unit was there to support the serving of a search warrant.

They arrested Rickardo Harris, 22, who was wanted in a shooting that occurred last week outside of Pet Valu in Hamilton, said Hamilton police Sgt. Mark Hayes.

Harris faces charges of aggravated assault, felonious assault, robbery and aggravated robbery.

While investigating other apartment units inside the residence, crews discovered a body in an apartment, and the Butler County Coroner’s Office was called, Hayes said.

INITIAL REPORT, 3:30 p.m.

A SWAT team and other police agencies assembled in the 2200 block of Dixie Highway this afternoon.

The crews are there to support the service of a search warrant, a Hamilton police spokesperson said.

He said when search warrants are about to be served in situations that may present high risks, the SWAT team responds to the scene.
