Police responded around 3:10 p.m. Friday to the 100 block of Gunckel Avenue to a shooting reported as accidental.

“Someone got shot in the face,” said a woman who called 911.

Aden Alexander of Dayton was identified as the victim by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

Ogburn was “playing with a loaded pistol” when he shot Alexander, according to a court affidavit.

Obgurn fled from the home, cut off his dreadlocks and changed his clothing after the shooting, but police found him about 15 minutes later on Pierce Street, read the affidavit.

Ogburn also suffered a gunshot wound to his left hand from when he was playing with the gun and it discharged.

During an interview with detectives Ogburn said “he knew he shot Aden prior to fleeing the home,” the affidavit read. “He stated he was trying to avoid capture until he could get his own self-inflicted gunshot wound taken care of.”

Ogburn was on house arrest at the time of the shooting and in May had cut his ankle bracelet.
