Terminally ill inmate dies in prison

A Preble County man sentenced last month in connection to his roommate’s death has died.

David Ramsey, 44, died Tuesday, according to Preble County Prosecutor Martin Votel. At the time of his sentencing, his defense attorney said Ramsey had terminal cancer and his health would not allow him to sit through a trial.

Ramsey took a plea deal for tampering with evidence and gross abuse of a corpse. He was accused of

fatally shooting William Pike Jr. last year in the Camden home they shared, then wrapping his body in a carpet and dumping it 15 miles away in Jefferson Twp.
