Troy man guilty of prostituting wife on Craigslist

TROY – A former Troy man was found guilty of promoting prostitution for running a home-based prostitution business advertised on Craigslist.

Michael LaFoe, 34, and his wife, Rosezetta LaFoe, 30, were accused of running the business from their home on Cedar Street in Troy. Police received complaints that prostitution might be occurring at the home and charged them this summer.

The LaFoes now list their address as Piqua.

On Monday, Oct. 19, Michael LaFoe waived a Miami County grand jury’s consideration of the allegations against him and pleaded no contest to the felony in county Common Pleas Court. He will be sentenced Nov. 30.

Rosezetta LaFoe pleaded no contest Oct. 14 to felony promoting prostitution and will be sentenced Dec. 14.

They each face up to 18 months in prison and a maximum fine of $5,000.

Police said information on Rosezetta LaFoe was found online, including on the Craigslist classified ad Web site. Officers began talking with her via the Internet, arranging to meet July 31.

An undercover officer was sent into the home as a client that afternoon followed by detectives with a warrant.

Police said they found Rosezetta LaFoe in basement room in a dress requested by the officer who arranged the meeting. They said Michael LaFoe was hiding in the closet next to the bed where she allegedly was waiting for the “client.”
